History
- Humber college, located in Toronto, Ontario is one of Canada’s largest community colleges.
Humber college occupies two campuses, usually referred to as North and Lakeshore.
The college offers over 150 full-time diploma programs, over 200 certificate programs as well as over 1,000 courses in post-secondary education. The college sees over 12,000 full-time students, 28,000 part-time students and 5,000 employees from Canada and around the world per year.
Lakeshore Campus
- Built during the late 1880’s, the cottage buildings served as a psychiatric hospital called the
Mimico Asylum. When purchased by Humber college, the college vowed to keep the historical site in good condition. The campus now consists of a number of cottage buildings mixed with some modern buildings built in the 1970’s. The college is in the process of renovating the insides while maintaining the outside structure of the cottages.
