Humble Pie
Humble Pie was a
hard rock band, formed in
1969 by
Steve Marriott (of
the Small Faces),
Peter Frampton, Greg Ridley (of the Spooky Tooth) and Jerry Shirley. Their debut single was "Natural Born Boogie", a British hit, which was followed by
As Safe As Yesterday Is. Personnel problems and label disputes kept the band from achieving massive success, and Frampton left the band in
1971 to begin a solo career.
With Dave Clempson replacing Frampton, Humble Pie moved towards an even harder sound emphasizing Marriott's blues and soul roots but was still unable to break into the mainstream. Constant shifts in line-up prevented the band from realizing its full potential, though they continued recording and performing until 1976.
