James Carville

James Carville (born October 25, 1944) is an American political strategist, best known for his role as a chief campaign strategist for Bill Clinton/Al Gore in 1992.

Born in Louisiana, Carville has a heavy Southern accent, which coupled with his quick and fiery rhetoric made him a very memorable member of the Clinton Administration. Carville would often appear on American news programs defending the President, even during the days of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. He became synonymous with presidential loyalty, and even wrote a book on the topic entitled Stickin': The Case for Loyalty.

Strangely, he is married to his conservative counterpart, Mary Matalin who has served similar roles for Republicans such as vice-president Dick Cheney.

Carville currently co-hosts the CNN debate show Crossfire.
