Jean-Baptiste de la Salle

Jean-Baptiste de la Salle (John Baptist de La Salle) (April 30, 1651 - April 7, 1719) was a teacher and educational reformer.

He was the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He is regarded as the father of modern pedagogy.

He was born in in Reims, France.

He died in Saint-Yon, Rouen, France.

He was canonized by Pope Leo XIII on May 24, 1900. His feast is celebrated on May 15. He is the patron saint of Christian teachers.
