John Carroll University
John Carroll University is affiliated with the
Jesuits and is located in
University Heights, Ohio, a suburb of
Cleveland. The university was founded in
1886 and originally named St. Ignatius College. It was renamed John Carroll University in
1923 in honor of the
first Roman Catholic archbishop in the United States. In
1968 John Carroll began admitting female students. By
2003 the university had over 250 faculty members and more than 4000 students. It offers a wide variety of Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
