Kelly Township is a township located in Union County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 4,502.

Geography

\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 4,502 people, 1,313 households, and 778 families residing in the township. The population density is 101.4/km² (262.6/mi²). There are 1,369 housing units at an average density of 30.8/km² (79.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 79.21% White, 18.92% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.58% from two or more races. 6.20% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,313 households out of which 23.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% are married couples living together, 5.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.7% are non-families. 37.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 23.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.20 and the average family size is 2.92. In the township the population is spread out with 14.3% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 41.1% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 188.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 210.0 males.
