Kinkajou
The
kinkajou (
Potos flavus) is a nocturnal
rain forest mammal related to the
raccoon. Occasionally known as the honey bear, an adult kinkajou usually weighs only 5-6 pounds. Classified as a carnivore for its sharp teeth, it actually prefers to eat fruit. Living high in
South American trees, they are not a particularly rare animal but they are not often seen by people.
