Geography

\nThe borough has a total area of 31,141 km² (12,024 mi²). 16,990 km² (6,560 mi²) of it is land and 14,151 km² (5,464 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 45.44% water.

census2 of 2000, there are 13,913 people, 4,424 households, and 3,256 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1/km² (2/mi²). There are 5,159 housing units at an average density of 0/km² (1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 59.69% White, 0.96% Black or African American, 14.58% Native American, 16.04% Asian, 0.79% Pacific Islander, 2.78% from other races, and 5.16% from two or more races. 6.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,424 households out of which 45.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.70% are married couples living together, 8.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.40% are non-families. 19.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.07 and the average family size is 3.52. In the borough the population is spread out with 32.40% under the age of 18, 8.30% from 18 to 24, 34.00% from 25 to 44, 20.40% from 45 to 64, and 4.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 112.40 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 117.40 males.
