Köpingsvik is a village on the Swedish island province of Oelandia. Located about 4 km east of Borgholm, with approximately 680 inhabitants, it is known as tourist center offering large and modern camping sites.
History
Köpingsvik is mentioned by some amateur historians as a possible alternativ to Björkö as the old Birka in Svitjod, ancient Sweden, which is mentioned amongst others in Vita Ansgari and the work of Adam of Bremen. Professional historians refute this idea.
