In 1779, a violent storm buried under sand the village which was rebuilt further in the grounds. At that time, the very unstable dunes, were occupied only by the customs officers who gave them the name of Bôle, term indicating an easily flooded maritime meadow. The borough of Escoublac knows today a new vitality with the restoration of its center and the installation of many animations (gone of the regional products, creation of a house of associations, etc).
