Lake LBJ
One of the seven
Texas Highland Lakes,
Lake LBJ was formed by the construction of
Wirtz Dam by the
Lower Colorado River Authority. Originally called
Lake Granite Shoals, it was renamed in 1965 for President
Lyndon Baines Johnson.
Lake LBJ is used as a venue for aquatic recreation and also provides cooling water for the Thomas J. Ferguson power plant in Granite Shoals, Texas.
