This is a
list of learned societies, grouped by country and sorted by date of foundation.
International
The International Council for Science is the unifying international body covering all major areas of science. Both national scientific academies and the various scientific unions are members of ICSU. The national academies typically delegate responsibilities for the various areas of science to appropriate national bodies; in like manner, the various scientific unions are typically made up of a number of International Associations.
