Loose socks
Loose socks (pronounced "lose socks" in Japan) are a type of
sock that are popular among young
Japanese girls.
They are long, white pairs of socks that are usually wrinkled down to the shin. They are similar to a leg warmer since they warm one's bare legs. For this reason, junior and high school girls often wear loose socks with their school uniforms when they are not in school. Also, loose socks are said to look stylish by many students. They make the legs look longer. They are held up with a special kind of
glue that is applied to the skin and sold for this purpose.
Loose socks have been a necessary item for junior and high school girls since the late 1990s. Today, even elementary school aged students wear loose socks and the fad could very well spread around the world.
