Lovebug Starski
Lovebug Starski is an American
hip hop artist and one of the pioneers of the form. His career began as hip hop first appeared in the
Bronx in the early
1970s and eventually became a
DJ at Disco Fever, a famous club. He released his first single, "Positive Life" (Tayster), in the
1980s, and later released "House Rock", his debut LP. A jail term derailed Starski's career, but he returned to performing in the
1980s. According to some sources, Starski came up with the term
hip hop.
