Maitland
The city of
Maitland,
New South Wales,
Australia consists of largely rural surroundings with a population of some 40 000 people. The main religion is the
Church of England, and
Roman Catholic Churches. The minority ethnic population is relatively low compared with other parts of the state of New South Wales.
Surrounding areas include the cities of Cessnock and Singleton local government areas. Like Cessnock, Maitland suffers from impoverished road conditions, on a similar par to Cessnock.
The town has received a population boom in recent years, with many "weekenders" being bought by much richer Sydney residents.
