Mak-yek

Mak-yek is a board game played in Siam and Malaysia (under the name Apit-sodok) on an 8 by 8 board by two players each having sixteen pieces or men.

The pieces are laid out on the first and third row from the player, there is no special way of deciding who starts the game. The men can move horizontally or vertically but not through other pieces (i.e. the same move of the rook in chess), capturing the opponents pieces through Intervention and Custodian Capture. The player who removes his opponents last piece off the board is the winner.
