Marche is a region of central Italy, bordering Emilia-Romagna and the republic of San Marino to the north-west, Umbria to the south-west, Abruzzo to the south-east and the Adriatic Sea to the east. The region covers 9,692 km² and has a population of about 1.43 million.
The regional capital is Ancona. The region is divided into four provinces: Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Macerata, and Pesaro-Urbino.
