Martin H.M. O'Neill is a
football player and manager. He was born on
March 1 1952 near
Coleraine in
Northern Ireland. He played
gaelic football as a youth before changing to association football. He played for local side Distillery, for
Nottingham Forest, Norwich City,
Manchester City, and
internationally for Northern Ireland, latterly captaining the side and winning sixty two caps.
After his playing career O'Neill began a career in football management, first with non-league Wycombe Wanderers, and later with Leicester City. Since 2000 he has been manager of Glasgow Celtic F.C, taking the team to the final of the 2003 UEFA Cup.
Martin O'Neill was awarded an OBE "for services to sport" in 2004.
