census of 2000, there are 453 people, 227 households, and 133 families residing in the town. The population density is 249.9/km² (650.8/mi²). There are 271 housing units at an average density of 149.5/km² (389.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.91% White, 2.43% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. 1.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 227 households out of which 11.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.4% are non-families. 34.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.00 and the average family size is 2.53.
