Millers Falls is a village located in the town of Montague in Franklin County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,072.

Geography

Millers Falls is located at 42°34'45" North, 72°29'36" West (42.579154, -72.493414)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.4 km² (0.9 mi²). 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.26% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,072 people, 439 households, and 273 families residing in the village. The population density is 465.1/km² (1,198.1/mi²). There are 472 housing units at an average density of 204.8/km² (527.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.18% White, 0.28% African American, 1.03% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 2.05% from two or more races. 1.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 439 households out of which 31.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.3% are married couples living together, 11.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.95.

In the village the population is spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 34.7% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $37,337, and the median income for a family is $41,711. Males have a median income of $34,886 versus $24,375 for females.
