Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
The
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was a UK government department, dealing with
agriculture,
fisheries and
food safety. It was widely criticised for its handling of the
BSE crisis and later the
foot and mouth epidemic, and its functions were transferred to the new
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Its dissolution leaves only one ministry left in the UK government, the Ministry of Defence.
