Demographics
According to CBS, in 2001 the ethnic makeup of the city is all Jewish and other non-Arabs, without significant Arab population. There are 63 immigrant settlers. See Population groups in Israel.
According to CBS, in 2001 there were 15,300 males and 15,700 females. The population of the city was spread out with 43.8% 19 years of age or younger, 12.5% between 20 and 29, 31.9% between 30 and 44, 8.0% from 45 to 59, 1.4% from 60 to 64, and 2.3% 65 years of age or older. The population growth rate in 2001 was 13.5%.
Income
\nAccording to CBS, as of 2000, in the city there were 11,662 salaried workers and 813 are self-employed. The mean monthly wage in 2000 for a salaried worker in the city is ILS 8,432, a real change of 13.0% over the course of 2000. Salaried males have a mean monthly wage of ILS 11,480 (a real change of 10.8%) versus ILS 5,534 for females (a real change of 10.9%). The mean income for the self-employed is 7,634. There are 536 people who receive unemployment benefits and 274 people who receive an income guarantee.
Education
\nAccording to CBS, there are 12 schools and 5,325 students in the city. They are spread out as 8 elementary schools and 3,374 elementary school students, and 8 high schools and 1,951 high school students. 63.5% of 12th grade students were entitled to a matriculation certificate in 2001.
