It was founded as "Monmouth Junior College" in 1933 and became Monmouth Collge in 1956. In 1995 it became Monmouth University.
There are about 3,500 full-time and 500 part-time undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students. It has seven schools: the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences; the School of Education; the School of Business Administration; the School of Science, Technology and Engineering; the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies; the Edward G. Schlaefer School; and the Graduate School.
