Morgan County, Utah

\nMorgan County is a county located in the U.S. State of Utah. As of 2000, the population is 7,129. It was named for Jedediah Morgan Grant, father of Heber J. Grant, who served as president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Its county seat is Morgan6.

Geography

\nAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,582 km² (611 mi²). 1,578 km² (609 mi²) of it is land and 4 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.27% water.

census2 of 2000, there are 7,129 people, 2,046 households, and 1,782 families residing in the county. The population density is 5/km² (12/mi²). There are 2,158 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (4/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.11% White, 0.04% Black or African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.45% from other races, and 1.07% from two or more races. 1.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,046 households out of which 49.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 79.60% are married couples living together, 5.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 12.90% are non-families. 11.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.48 and the average family size is 3.81. In the county, the population is spread out with 37.10% under the age of 18, 9.70% from 18 to 24, 24.30% from 25 to 44, 20.20% from 45 to 64, and 8.70% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 102.90 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.70 males. The median income for a household in the county is $50,273, and the median income for a family is $53,365. Males have a median income of $42,350 versus $23,036 for females. The per capita income for the county is $17,684. 5.20% of the population and 3.70% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.70% are under the age of 18 and 6.90% are 65 or older.
