British sitcom on the
BBC starring Robert Lindsay,

Kris Marshall. The

2000. The show was created by Fred Barron.
The show is about the antics of a British family (The Harpers) in everday life. Ben Harper (played by Lindsay) is an ignorant dentist who shows little compassion for his family, his patients or anyone else he encounters. His wife Susan (played by Wanamaker) is a control-freak Tour Guide who wants to run the lives of her children, and is known for being a bad cook. Their eldest son, Nick (played by Marshall), is an eccentric 20-something man still living in with his parents. He goes from job to job in each episode, and he always finds some way to get fired, and is known for doing stupid actions.
Other characters include
- Janey Harper (played by Daniela Denby-Ashe), who is currently in university and is known as a shopaholic. She became pregnant at the age of 19.
- Michael Harper (played by Gabriel Thompson), who is currently in high school, is known for his short-termed relationships, and is the black sheep of the family, being an extremely intelligent tory.
- Abi Harper (played by Siobhan Hayes), who is a dumbwitted student, and is very clumsy.
- Roger Bailey (played by Kieron Self), who is a dentist. He intrudes upon and annoys Ben, who works in the office above his. He really likes Abi, but can never seem to gain the courage to ask her out.
The show used to play Monday to Thursday in
Canada late nights on
YTV.
