Neocolonialism comprises the exercise of influence over another less-developed nations, areas or sectors by economic, language, cultural and political means rather than by the traditional colonialist methods of military-political take-over and direct control.
Cultural colonialism may emasculate a nation through its education system as well as other aspects of cultural life, including art, theatre, cinema and television. In this way, in some countries in Africa ,the official and learning languages (French or English) are not the national languages or the most spoken.
Through economic colonialism, one country can control another's economy. Multinational corporations as well as states can indulge in neocolonialism.
