Netley Abbey
Netley Abbey is a picturesque village outside
Southampton on the south coast of
England. It is flanked on the one side by the ruins of the Netley Abbey itself and on the other by the Royal Victoria country park. Within the park is the chapel hospital which served as an essential part of medical proceedings during
World War I. The village runs along the length of the seashore, and looks across to
Gosport and Calshot. While large enough to have a
railway station, Netley has a community feel. Many believe that the best
fish and chips for miles around can be found here at the Jolly Friar.
