New Chicago is a town located in Lake County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,063.

census of 2000, there are 2,063 people, 826 households, and 532 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,188.8/km² (3,071.3/mi²). There are 876 housing units at an average density of 504.8/km² (1,304.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 87.64% White, 0.53% African American, 0.73% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 8.92% from other races, and 1.94% from two or more races. 16.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 826 households out of which 31.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.7% are married couples living together, 13.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% are non-families. 29.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.06. In the town the population is spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.5 males.
