The official setting for most mayoral news conferences is in the Blue Room.
City Hall is in Lower Manhattan, on Murray Street between Broadway and Park Row. It faces south to a small, recently renovated park.
At the time it was built, in the early 19th century, it was at the north end of the city. It was finished in 1812. The front is marble and granite, the back is sandstone. It is a rather dainty building for the largest city in the United States.
