Ninotchka

Ninotchka is a 1939 film which tells the story of a Communist Russian official who becomes enticed to the West by the love of a French nobleman. It stars Greta Garbo, Melvyn Douglas, Ina Claire and Bela Lugosi.

The film was written by Melchior Lengyel, Charles Brackett, Billy Wilder and Walter Reisch, and it was directed by Ernst Lubitsch.

The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. It was famous for the tagline, "Garbo laughs".

The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
