Nutan

Nutan (June 4, 1936) - (February, 1991), Indian film actress.

Nutan is the elder daughter of actress Shobhna Samarth. She is considered the finest actress in Indian Cinema. Her facial expressions were her greatest assets. She can be called Audrey Hepburn of Indian Cinema. She started her career as actress as a 14 year old in Hamari Beti (1950). Her first big break was 'Seema' (opposite Balraj Sahni) which won her a fimfare. She followed her success with romantic comedy Paying guest (opposite Dev Anand). In 1959 she had two hits in Anadi (Raj Kapoor) and Bimal Roy's Sujata (Sunil Dutt). There was no looking back after that.

Nutan has won 6 Filmfare Awards and countless others - the most any actress has won to date.

Being called the best by the best is probably more important then the filmfare awards. Lata Mageshkar calls her the face she could sing for. Dev Anand identified her as the actress you could carry out an intelligently conversation with. Sadhna called Nutan her Idol.

Her son Mohnish Behel is an actor too. Her sister Tanuja too acted in some movies. While her niece Kajiol has had a very successful career.
