Operation Rifles Blitz
During the American
invasion of Iraq, in
2003,
Operation Rifles Blitz was a series of patrols and checkpoints set up at the Iraqi frontiers with
Saudi Arabia,
Syria and
Jordan by the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (the “Proud Rifles”).
The object of these patrols and checkpoints was to prevent infiltrators from reinforcing resistance fighters in Iraq and to capture members of the old regime attempting to escape.
