Krenwinkel participated in the infamous murders of August 8, 1969 at the home of Sharon Tate, in particular stabbing Abigail Folger numerous times. The following night, she also took part in the murders of Leno LaBianca and Rosemary LaBianca. She stabbed Mrs. LaBianca repeatedly and wrote "witchy" messages in blood on the wall, then used a carving fork to carve the word "WAR" on Leno's chest, stuck it into his stomach, tweaked it, and watched it wobble back and forth.
She was sentenced, on March 29, 1971, to life in prison and remains incarcerated at the California Institution for Women in Corona, California.
