Peckforton Castle

Peckforton Castle is a Victorian folly built in the style of a medieval castle. It was built by John Tollemache, a local Cheshire Member of Parliament, between 1844 and 1851 (architect: Anthony Salvin).

It is prominently situated on part of the sandstone ridge running north-south across west Cheshire, close to the genuinely medieval Beeston Castle, approximately three miles south-west of the village of Tarporley.

It is known among UK live action roleplaying gamers as the home of the original Treasure Trap club. It has also been used as a location for several films and TV shows, including Doctor Who.

A Grade I listed building, Peckforton Castle is now a luxury hotel, popular for weddings and other large functions.
