Pittsfield is a town located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,669.

census of 2000, there are 1,669 people, 671 households, and 434 families residing in the town. The population density is 397.8/km² (1,029.3/mi²). There are 699 housing units at an average density of 166.6 persons/km² (431.1 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.18% White, 0.24% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 2.16% from two or more races. 1.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 671 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.5% are married couples living together, 15.4% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 35.3% are non-families. 28.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 3.02. In the town the population is spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 89.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.1 males. The median income for a household in the town is $33,194, and the median income for a family is $43,690. Males have a median income of $28,988 versus $22,250 for females.
