Pleione (biology)
The
Pleione is a small
genus of about twenty, beautiful, predominantly ground
orchids. They are easily grown by the layman and are among the most popular orchids. They have relatively large pseudobulbs and large, pleated, deciduous leaves dropping off in Autumn (Fall). They are very closely related to the equally beautiful genus Coelogyne and were once considered part of it.
Below are a few representatives of the genus:
- P. delavayi
- P. forrestii
- P. humilis
- P. praecox
- P. yunnanensis
