Princess Superstar

Princess Superstar (born Concetta Kirschner) is a Jewish and Italian-American rapper from the suburbs of Philadelphia.

She calls her music - a mixture of hip hop, rock and electronica - 'flip flop'.

Her parents were psychologists, and they moved the family to Philadelphia, sending Kirschner to a private school named Germantown Academy. Kirschner was socially awkward, and claims her time in school was "from hell". She wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, and was a fan of such varied artists as Elvis Presley, the Cure, Run-DMC, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and the Violent Femmes. She was a member of the Singing Club, the Theatre Club and the Black Student Union.

After graduating from high school, she moved to New York City and studied acting at New York University, learning to play the guitar and sending a demo tape to the College Music Journal and Grand Royal, a record label headed by the Beastie Boys. Her debut was called Strictly Platinum (produced by Prince Paul), and gained her some notoriety as one of very few white rappers, as well as for her openness regarded her Jewish heritage and gender-related issues..

Princess Superstar has collaborated with Kool Keith, Jon Spencer, MC Paul Barman and others.
