Red House, West Virginia

Red House, West Virginia is a small community located in Putnam County, West Virginia. The community is divided into two distinct areas: Red House (Proper) which follows the Kanawha River Valley along Route 62, and Red House Hill (aka Route 34)which is in the hills just off of the Kanawha River Valley.

The area is a mix of hilly 20-100 acre farms (including cattle, horses, limited tobacco production, corn, etc), and owners of small land plots who are commuters to the Charleston, WV and Huntington, WV metro and surrounding areas.

Public education in the area is served by George Washington Elementary School (locoated in Eleanor, WV), George Washington Middle School (also located in Eleanor, WV), and Poca High School (located in Poca, WV).

Fire service in the area is primarily provided by the Route 34 Volunteer Fire Department.

Two churches exist in Red House: the 'United Brethern' church, which is located in Red House (proper), and the 'Lone Oak Church of God', located on Red House Hill.
