Redwood is a town located in Josephine County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 5,844.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 5,844 people, 2,390 households, and 1,684 families residing in the town. The population density is 466.2/km² (1,207.3/mi²). There are 2,529 housing units at an average density of 201.7/km² (522.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.87% White, 0.31% African American, 1.01% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.77% from other races, and 2.65% from two or more races. 3.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,390 households out of which 30.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 2.84. In the town the population is spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.1 males. The median income for a household in the town is $33,310, and the median income for a family is $36,922. Males have a median income of $29,750 versus $21,270 for females.
