Reggae (music)

Reggae music is a Jamacian form with it's origions in 1950s R and B. In the 1960s a form of music called Ska evolved out of the Jamacian dancehalls. In the 1960s Ska slowed down to become Rock Steady, and then in the 1970s Rock Steady slowed down again to become Roots Reggae, or just Reggae. Other styles of Reggae that evolved during this time were: Dub, a psychedelic, stripped down, remixed style; Rockers, and Rub-a-Dub. In the late '70s, and into the 1980s, a style of Reggae called Dancehall began to evolve. Dancehall is still vital to this day.
