The school was founded in 1865 as "Trenton Business College" in Trenton, New Jersey and became "The Rider Business College" in 1897. After several renamings and mergers, Rider College moved to Lawrencville in 1964. It acquired the Westminster Choir College of Princeton in 1991 and became a university in 1994.
There are about 3,100 full-time and 800 part-time undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students.
