Robert Simson
Robert Simson (
1687 -
1768) was a mathematician and professor of
mathematics at the
University of Glasgow from 1711 to 1761. His works include an edition of
Euclid's Elements, five books on
conic sections, and a reconstruction of lost works of
Euclid and
Apollonius.
The pedal line of a triangle is sometimes called the Simson Line after him.
