Rodopi
The name Rodopi refers to a fairly large mountain range in the North
of Greece, along the border with Bulgaria.
Rodopi consists of many summits of low altitude. The highest altitude
is 1953 meters.
River Nestos (see picture) gives life to the whole area.
It is the southest place in the Balkans where we can see trees such
as Picea Abies and Betula Pendula. This means that the winter in
Rodopi is harsh. Temperatures of -15 degrees Celcius are common.
Rodopi is a refuge of wild life. Human presence is negligible.
