Roland Kirk
Roland Kirk (
1935 -
1977) was a
jazz musician who played many
instruments, and also employed several novel techniques as a
flautist. One technique which he developed was to
sing or hum into the flute at the same time as playing. He also utilised circular breathing to enable him to play apparently without breathing for extended periods. Another method he employed was to play two or three instruments simultaneously, for example, two
saxophones.
