Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 94.2 km² (36.4 mi²). 80.6 km² (31.1 mi²) of it is land and 13.6 km² (5.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 14.41% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 534 people, 226 households, and 159 families residing in the township. The population density is 6.6/km² (17.2/mi²). There are 637 housing units at an average density of 7.9/km² (20.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 92.51% White, 0.19% African American, 5.62% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. 0.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 226 households out of which 23.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.8% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 24.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.76.
In the township the population is spread out with 21.0% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 19.9% from 25 to 44, 35.4% from 45 to 64, and 18.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 47 years. For every 100 females there are 108.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 110.0 males.
