Rosefinch
The rosefinches are birds in the finch family Fringillidae. Most are in the large genus Carpodacus, but two other finches are named as rosefinches.
Most rosefinches are so named, but three common North American species are not. As the name implies, various shades of red are the characteristic plumage colours of this group.
This seed-eating group has representatives throughout the northern hemisphere, but the greatest diversity is in Asia.
