On October 31, 1994 an American Eagle ATR-72 crashed in Roselawn after circling in icy weather. All 64 on board were killed.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 21.0 km² (8.1 mi²). 21.0 km² (8.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,933 people, 1,286 households, and 1,099 families residing in the town. The population density is 187.0/km² (484.4/mi²). There are 1,326 housing units at an average density of 63.1/km² (163.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.30% White, 0.15% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.18% Pacific Islander, 0.97% from other races, and 0.99% from two or more races. 3.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,286 households out of which 41.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.7% are married couples living together, 9.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.5% are non-families. 11.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.99 and the average family size is 3.22.
