Royal Radar Establishment
The
Royal Radar Establishment (RRE), formerly the Teleccommunications Research Establishent (TRE) moved to
Malvern from Swanage and Christchurch in
1942 after it was decided it was too vulnerable to German commando raids. It split on June 2nd 2001 into two parts, a government body called
DSTL - Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, and a company destined for privatisation, QinetiQ.
