Scottish Independence Party

The Scottish Independence Party (SIP) was formed prior to the Scottish Parliamentary Election, 2003 with the aim of fielding candidates in that election.

They favour Scottish independence, but beyond that have no policy portfolio. They argue that this is necessary as making policies on areas outwith the constiutional status of Scotland puts people off supporting independence. They also argue that the mainstream party of Scottish independence, the Scottish National Party has become sidetracked by devolution.

They were unable to field candidates in the previous elections to the Scottish Parliament but have stated that they hope to be able to do so in the future.
