The Eastern Region was formed by the amalgamation of the Tayside, Fife and former Eastern regions. The league set-up in the region is a "Superleague" combining the best teams from these former regions, and three regionalised leagues beneath. These regional leagues are stylised "District Leagues". The district leagues below the Superleague roughly correspond to the former three regions that combined to create the Eastern region. There is a Tayside district league, a Fife district league and a Lothians district league.
At the end of each season clubs are promoted and relegated beween the Superleague and the three district leagues. The Fife league operates with one division, but the Tayside and Lothians districts have two divisions which clubs are promoted and relegated between at the end of each season.
